My Handmade Kuksa/Guksi/Noggin

I was wandering thru a local nature area and there was a tree down across the trail.  So I broke out my handy dandy folding saw and being the good Samaritan that I am I just had to clear the trail.  Needless to say a chunk of the wood came home with me and I got to work on making a cup.

Edit:  With the help of some friends.  I have discovered this wood is Hop Hornbeam.

You can call it a Kuksa, a Guksi, or a Noggin.  Not sure which one it is.  Prolly fits more in the noggin category.

Some pics...

I also made this leather travel journal.  It is made with latigo leather and plain printer paper folded in half.  Bound in the spine with artificial sinew.  The tie is yucca 2-strand twist cordage.  The cordage is dyed with charcoal powder.

God Bless Yall!

Awesome kuksa! Did you burn it out or use a hook knife? Hop hornbeam is a good choice (even if accidental) for this.

I used a hook knife. Burning would be a possible method as well though.

How have you been? I emailed you a few days ago. Did you get it?
