i've been reading all the other diy'ers out there making their homemade handle material out of jeans, burlap, etc. so i figured its time to try it. i made a press out of 1x2 poplar, glued and screwed. its 12" long. i guess legally you cant call this micarta cuz that is a trademark name or something. some are calling it mycarta, jeancarta, etc.
the first set was made out of some tow strap i found in the ditch. i washed it and cut it into strips and glued it all up. the yellow is tow strap, green is pre-dyed burlap from wally world.
and here is the end result of my efforts. picked up this
enzo elver from dlt trading for the guinea pig. i like how it tuned out.
