New covers on an Imperial Fish Knife

I got this knife a few years ago at a gun show for $5 with the intention of putting on new covers.  I finally got around to it.  I like this knife pattern and it is carbon steel!  Most fishing knives are stainless.  The covers on this knife originally are a pressed on hollow metal form.  The "jigged bone" is just a plastic heat shrink tubing basically.  It had to go.

Knife disassembled and ready for cleaning.

Didn't get any other shots of the process.  I get busy and forget to take pictures. The covers are Lacewood or Leopard Wood depending on who you ask.

It's sad to see these old manufactures die off.  This is a fine example of a good, cheap USA made knife.  There are only a few manufacturers that employ sunken joints like this.

Now I got to scour eBay and the garage sales for more pocket knives to fix.

God Bless Yall
